Rare and Classic Ferraris Highlight Gooding & Co. Arizona Auction

Gooding and Company Ferrari 500 Superfast

Estimated values for a few Ferrari sports cars soar well into the multi-millions.

If Ferraris get your heart going–as they do for almost all of us–then Gooding & Company has an upcoming auction in Arizona where your interest should be focused. Taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona, the January 17-18 auction has three superstars among its ranks.

Of the three, our favorite (by looks and by name) is the 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast, pictured at the top. While the name adorns a more modern prancing horse, this Superfast is notable as being the only one of a total run of 36 to be made in black. Ample power is applied to the rear wheels through a V12 displacing 5.0 liters, enough to reach speeds of 170 miles per hour. Due to the rarity of this car and current market trends, the estimated value is an eye-watering $2,500,000 at minimum. If a bidding war were to take place, value could reach $3,000,000.

Ferrari 330 GTS

Nearly matching that value above is an open top Ferrari 330 GTS. Yellow is the dominant feature of this roadster from 1967, which had recently been restored to award-winning levels. Power comes from a V12 that’s one liter smaller than the Superfast. At 4.0 liters of displacement, this engine suits this cruiser quite well.

Gooding Ferrari Dino 246 GTS

As an alternative to the front-engined offerings, a third Ferrari, a 1973 Dino 246 GTS will also cross the block. With striking styling and a mid-engine layout, the GTS follows the Italian marque’s racing history quite closely. Making this car desirable is the fact it has air conditioning, power windows and other convenient and comfort features–items not available on the GT. Surprisingly, it has a mere 21,000 miles on the odometer. Some may say it has half of a Ferrari engine, but the V6 sings the usual Ferrari song, while nestled in a svelte overall package. Additionally, if the pricing of the 500 Superfast and 330 GTS were simply too much, the Dino is expected to fetch a more attainable $400,000.

Of course, these won’t be the only Italian cars on the block at this auction. You can check out the full catalog of dream rides on the Gooding & Company website.
