Porsche’s Gorgeous ATL Home Just Won a Design Excellence Award
Porsche just added another award to the shelves, and it has nothing to do with its timeless car designs. On this occasion, the Germans won gold in the 2016 Annual Design Excellence Awards for its work in America: the Porsche Cars North America Headquarters and Experience Center in Atlanta.
The 27-acre, 25,000-plus-square-foot center is nothing short of a magnificent achievement. Designed by architecture and design firm HOK, the center is the biggest investment outside of Germany that Porsche has ever made. Opened in 2015, it’s made to service 450 Porsche employees from five different divisions, and 30,000 visitors are expected to visit annually. At this year’s Design Excellence Awards presented by the American Society of Interior Designs Georgia Chapter, the new facility took Best in Show honors in the Corporate Over 25,000 Square Feet category.
“We are honored to be recognized by this prestigious national organization for interior designers,” vice president and director of interiors for HOK’s Atlanta office, Betsy Nurse, said in a release. “Porsche’s vision was to create a bold environment where the physical elements are as memorable as its vehicles’ driving experience. This honor from ASID Georgia reinforces the success of the project and Porsche’s vision.”
Not only is the $100 million headquarters perfectly set up from a corporate standpoint, but the 1.6-mile test track makes a perfect place for potential and current buyers to learn about and test the performance cars sold by Porsche. There’s even a four-star Solis hotel opening next to the facility later next year.
Sounds like a road trip is order, right?
