With a proven new partnership with Motul, exciting driver lineup, and a sweet Porsche livery, things are looking up for Pfaff next season.

Fresh off an overall 3rd place finish in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech GTD Championship, Pfaff Motorsports isn’t feeling too complacent. In fact, the Toronto-based team just announced a host of changes for the 2020 season. Encompassing everything from their partnerships to a new driver lineup. Not to mention an exciting new livery for their Porsche GT3 R racer, which is about the only thing that remains the same for the upcoming season.

Pfaff kicked off their series of changes by announcing a multi-year title partnership with legendary lubricant manufacturer Motul. Pfaff’s Porsche racer will prominently display the company’s logo, of course. In addition, Motul will serve as the official oil for the Pfaff dealership group and will now be sold over-the-counter at Pfaff dealerships. Motul’s line of 8100 synthetic oils already meet strict OEM guidelines, making them a natural choice for consumer maintenance. Motul is also the “Official Motor Oil” of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as well, so this is a very natural fit.

“We are beyond excited to have a new long-term title partner in Motul,” said Steve Bortolotti, Pfaff
Motorsports team manager. “We believe in the superiority of their product, which we’ll sell in our
dealerships and service customers’ cars with. We’ll also be using the company’s 300V oil and
other performance lubricants and products in our 911 GT3 R.”

“We have founded kindred spirits in the Pfaff team. Both in motorsports and across the dealership network,” added Nolan Browning, Motul Brand Manager. “Like us, they are passionate about cars,
motorcycles, and racing, and their brand values align perfectly with our own. We’re really looking forward to deepening our relationship over the next three years, and seeing a lot of success, both
on and off-track.”

Pfaff and Motul unveiled the team’s new livery for 2020 at a launch event in front of over 300 eager fans. The design is an evolution of 2019’s popular “plaid Porsche” layout that also pays homage to historic Motul liveries. The new ride makes its on-track debut at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 on January 4-6.

With a new partner and look, Pfaff also announced a few changes to their driver lineup for 2020. Lars Kern, the Nurburgring production-car lap record holder and Porsche engineer, will join the team for the series’ endurance rounds. Porsche factory driver Patrick Pilet also joins the lineup at the 24 Hours of Daytona. They’ll join existing drivers Zacharie Robichon and Porsche Young Professional and Intercontinental GT Challenge champion Dennis Olsen.

“It’s great to have Zach back for a second season,” Bortolotti said. “Having raced with us last year, including a win at Lime Rock, we already know that Dennis is a great fit for our team. In our second year in the WeatherTech series, we’re really looking to build on our learnings from our rookie year, execute perfectly throughout the season, and aim for our first championship.”

It’s always difficult to predict the future, especially in a highly competitive sport. But things are looking quite promising for Pfaff in 2020. With a proven partner by their side and an impressive new driver lineup, it’s a safe bet to assume that they’ll improve upon last year’s on-track success.
