Porsche Files Trademark for “919”
With the debut of the 2013 Cayman still fresh, we’ve learned Stuttgart has filed the numerals as a “word mark” with the German Patent Office. But what, if anything, the company plans to do with the name is unclear. Eagle-eyed folks will note that it’s a digit higher than the designation of Porsche’s forthcoming hybrid halo car, and that raises some interesting possibilities. Might we eventually see some kind of uber-exclusive, track-only variant—à la Ferrari’s FXX—emerge from Stuttgart’s skunk works? Or a fire-breathing road car sans the green powertrain?
