Picasso Automotive recently shared teaser images of its upcoming offering, which is a carbon-intensive supercar powered by a twin-turbocharged Italian V6.

As a result of the pandemic, 2020 was one of the most challenging years for car sales. This does not seem to have deterred automotive start-ups from developing new high-performance supercars. Lugano-based Picasso Automotive is a Swiss artisan supercar manufacturer that recently unveiled its latest offering- the all-new Picasso PS-01.

The company recently shared teaser images of its new model, and Picasso claims that its design has been “shaped by the wind”. The teaser images do a good job of hiding most of the design details but you cannot miss the giant rear spoiler. We expect the headlights and taillights to be LED units, but the design of the headlamp cluster bears a striking resemblance to that of the Ferrari Enzo.

Picasso drew inspiration from LMP2 endurance cars for the rear subframe, which is made entirely out of carbon fiber. PS-01’s bodywork is also made out of carbon composite and features a 10.5 feet long carbon panel. The car was designed by Roberto Curto’ and thanks to the extensive use of composites, the entire ensemble only weighs around 1984 lbs.

The company claims that PS-01 will be production-ready by spring 2021, and Picasso intends on commencing track tests quite soon. The Swedish car manufacturer has also confirmed that PS-01’s powerplant has been sourced from a prominent Italian automaker. The company has refrained from disclosing any details about the engine manufacturer, but according to industry rumors, the motor might be a product of the Prancing Horse brand.

The Picasso PS-01 supercar will feature a twin-turbocharged V6 engine capable of generating around 600 HP of maximum power. The motor will come mated to a Sadev gearbox, and PS-01 will run a Carbo Brake system to rein in all that power. Components like the suspension and seats are sourced from Sabelt and Ohlins, respectively.

The supercar is the brainchild of Stefano Picasso, who is the CEO of Picasso Automotive. Stefano aims to develop PS-01 into a high-performance machine with a 1:1 power to weight ratio. In today’s day and age, when most automakers are adopting electrification as the future of propulsion, Picasso proudly flaunts the fact that its upcoming offering is not powered by a pack of batteries.
