Pagani Zonda 760 Owner Sues Dealer Because He Can’t Drive It
You might think that dropping $4 million plus on a car would mean you can drive it legally. But you know what they say about assumptions!
Assumptions, as they say, are rarely a good thing. But we make them on a daily basis, often with predictable results. We assume that the sun will rise and set. That tax bills will inevitably come, and that ache in our knee will never really go away. But we also assume, for good reason, that spending nearly $4.8 million dollars on a car like the uber rare Pagani Zonda 760 Coupe would mean we can take it out and drive it. But it turns out that isn’t always true!
At least is isn’t for a man by the name of Tufan Kalman. Kalman purchased his rarefied ride from London-based Pagani UK Ltd last February and took delivery six months later. But then, he received some very, very bad news. Turns out, the dealer (allegedly) failed to supply him with UK registration documents. Which means he can’t legally register the car in his home country.
We certainly can’t blame Kalman for being a tad bit upset. Shelling out that kind of cash for a 1-of-13 Pagani Zonda 760 Coupe and then finding out you can’t drive it is a massive tease, after all. So he did what any red-blooded man would do – he’s suing the dealership! According to The Telegraph, Kalman is seeking a full refund, plus interest, for his “loss.”
“To date, Pagani UK Ltd has neither delivered the registration documents nor repaid the purchase price,” the lawsuit states “[They] offered to refund the purchase price if they did not deliver the original UK documents by the end of September 2017. “There is no legal basis allowing the defendant to keep the purchase price.”
The dealer remains mum on the subject, and would only acknowledge it. “We do know about it,” they offered up. “Nothing is anywhere near as black and white as it looks on paper.” Thus, it looks like this one is headed for a good old fashioned court battle. So if you’re in the market for a pretty much unused Pagani Zonda 760 Coupe, one might just be back on the market soon!
