Pagani Huayra Joins Brembo at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show

Pagani Huayra is just one of the many incredible machines on display at the L.A. Auto Show.

The 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show opened to the media today and the Pagani Huayra is the first of many vehicles that our team will capture on film this week. The Huayra is on display in the Brembo booth, as this sleek Italian hypercar relies on that brand of braking components. The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the most popular American events for models like this, both in the displays of automakers and suppliers alike.

There is nothing new or special about this particular Pagani Huayra. This is just the first car that our photographers in L.A. sent over this morning. It is a pretty wicked machine, so we figured that talking about this Italian masterpiece is a fine way to kick off this week’s coverage from California. Stay tuned for more from the City of Angels, but in the meantime, check out the Huayra in the pictures below.

The Pagani Huayra

The Pagani Huayra is powered by a rear-mounted, turbocharged Mercedes-AMG V12. This mill delivers 720 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels with help from a 7-speed sequential, single-clutch gearbox. Thanks to a curb weight of less than 3,000 pounds, the Huayra is capable of sprinting from a stop to 60 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds. It also has a top speed of 238 miles per hour, making it one of the quickest and fastest production road cars in the world.

In addition to that big power, the Pagani Huayra also offers world class handling capabilities. Thanks to active aerodynamics and a high tech suspension setup, this low-slung hypercar can withstand 1.66 Gs of lateral acceleration. In other words, not only will it beat most cars in a straight line, it will out-corner most production cars as well. In fact, the Huayra will out-corner many race cars, while being legal for street use in many places around the world.

Brembo Display

The Pagani Huayra is on display at the 2019 Los Angeles International Auto Show as part of the Brembo display.

The Huayra relies on Brembo front and rear brakes, with four-piston calipers at all four corners. The system also employs drilled carbon ceramic brake rotors that are 15-inches in diameter and 1.3-inches thick. This carbon ceramic braking system is one of the best in the world and the Huayra is one of the most recognizable hypercars in the world.

Using this car to draw attention to the Brembo display in L.A. is a great choice, as between the brake tech and the rare Italian sports car, everyone will want to get a closer look. While there, attendees can check out everything that Brembo has to offer, as just one of the supplies exhibiting at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The 2019 L.A. Auto Show opens to the public on Friday, November 22 and runs through December 1. Tickets start at $6 for kids under 12, $10 for seniors over 65 and $20 for everyone in the middle.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
