Disclaimer: Please excuse any mistakes in this post. My brain isn’t really able to function at full capacity when this freakin’ absolutely incredible photo is within view.

Every second of every minute of every day from here on out likely results in an uptick in the McLaren P1’s value. After two years, the final car of the 375 examples skipped across the production line this past December. On top of those 375 base P1s (“base P1” might be the most oxymoronic thing I’ve ever typed), McLaren built 35 P1 GTRs, hyper versions of the already hyper hypercar. That means this photo shows 30-percent of one of the best and most rare cars on the planet, all in one room. AND LOOK AT THE COLORS AND PAINTS AND WRAPS.

The setting for this titillating image is the McLaren P1 GTR Workshop in Woking, England. Yes, there is a workshop specifically purpose-built for the care and watch of 35 cars. It’s part of the ownership experience known as the McLaren P1 GTR Driver Programme. It is there that technicians baby and prepare the cars for racing and events around the globe. Essentially, the customers who buy this car are also buying the ability to be coached and prepared for racing. They get coaches, they get techs, they get special design help, they get personal trainers, and they get hand-crafted custom gear.

The P1 is already an incredible machine. The twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain is good for 903 horsepower, has a limited top speed of 217 mph, and jumps to 62 in 2.8 seconds. The GTR bests that with an even more tuned-up version that puts out 986 horsepower. But that’s just the beginning.

The GTR has so many little changes a normal driver would never even think about. The mirrors were moved to the A-pillar for better sight lines and aero, a carbon fiber seat is custom fitted to each customer, it has 10-percent more drag (1,455 pounds total at 150 mph), and it has a custom Inconel and titanium alloy exhaust … just to name a few things. Plus these awesome colorways and designs that clearly make it faster too (btw, the checkered red design is a throwback to the FINA 1997 F1 GTR Longtail.

Okay, back to dreaming about what it’d be like if all 12 of these were revving at the same time.
