Motul 24 Hours of Le Mans

Win up to $500 in Motul products by guessing the total winning laps ahead of this year’s Le Mans start.

We’re merely days away from the longest-running, most significant endurance race in the world: the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Thus, the Official Lubricant Partner and makers of the event’s recommended oil, Motul, is marking the event by giving away some pretty killer prizes over at our Porsche-focused sister site, Rennlist. All you have to do is enter your best guess of the number of laps the overall winner will complete. The winner scores a $500 credit toward Motul products, and the runner-up nabs a $250 credit.

The contest is open now, and runs until the green flag drops on June 15 at 9 a.m. EST. If there is a multiway tie, Motul will enter all the correct responses into a poll and select a winner at random. The contest is open to Rennlist members located in the U.S. and Canada only. (Sign up for Rennlist for free here.) And if that isn’t enough, Motul will be dropping some Le Mans trivia in the same thread during the race. Answer those questions correctly, and you can score even more prizes!

We know that our loyal Team Speed readers are huge fans of Le Mans, because we are too. So, you’ll be happy to know that Motul’s relationship with the legendary race runs deep as well. Aside from their status as the official lubricant for participating teams, they also make the race’s recommended oil: Motul 300V 5W30. And that’s exactly what Gibson Technology uses not just in their racers, but pretty much every other machine they own.

“We don’t just use Motul products in the cars,” explains Gibson Technology’s technical director, Ian Lovett. “Our machines in our factory have Motul coolant, so Motul literally runs through the entire company. The engines themselves use Motul 300V and have Motul coolant. In the factory we also use various other Motul products for cleaning and maintenance as well. The biggest advantage about working with Motul is that instead of buying off-the-shelf engine oils, we now have access to a laboratory and engineers who can help us with developing and making bespoke products for our needs. That is the biggest plus for our company.”

The statistics behind that decision are no doubt mind boggling. Gibson has racked up over 778,000 miles on 284 different engines over the years. Despite this, Lovett notes that “we don’t really get any engine failures.” This, despite pushing the cars to the absolute limits day in and day out.

So if you’re looking to score some of these fine lubricants for free, be sure and head over here to throw your name in the hat. We can’t think of a better way to kick off our favorite motorsports event than by tasting sweet victory ourselves!
