Mercedes Greenlights S-Class Cabrio
Automotive News reports that Mercedes-Benz product development boss Thomas Weber, has confirmed a convertible version of its new flagship S-Class sedan will head to production.
Weber went on to state that the new drop-top will be based on the S-Class Coupe concept recently showcased at Frankfurt Motor Show. The S-Class coupe is slated to go on sale in early 2014 in Europe, with the convertible variant expected about 12 months after.
The new S-Class convertible will feature a fabric top and is said to be offered with twin-turbocharged V-8 and V-12 engines. This will be the first open-top S-Class since the W111 Cabriolet, which was produced from 1961-1971.
