Chosen by World Car Awards jurors as their World Performance Car, 720S adds yet another accolade to its wall of honor.

Two years ago at the Geneva Motor Show, McLaren introduced the 720S to the world. Since then, the supercar has snagged more than a few accolades for its design and its impressive capabilities.

This week, the 720S added a new trophy to its collection: the 2019 World Car Awards title of World Performance Car 2019.

“We feel grateful anytime one of our cars wins an award,” said McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt, “but to have the 720S named World Performance Car is particularly special. We believe the 720S is a revolutionary step forward for both McLaren, as well as the supercar segment, and to have it recognised in this way by an organisation made up of the most esteemed media across the globe is a great honor.â€

The 720S was among the top three cars nominated in its category, going up against the Aston Martin Vantage and Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe for the title. The McLaren is also the first British entry to win the WCA World Performance Car title since the first was awarded in 2006, joining the likes of last year’s winner, the BMW M5, the two-time champion Porsche 911, and the sole Japanese and Italian winners to date, the 2009 Nissan GT-R and 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia.
