The donkey couldn’t get behind the wheel of the supercar, so the animal did the next best thing: Take a bite out of it.

Being able to own a supercar is a dream that a lot of enthusiasts share. And while every enthusiast doesn’t agree on what kind of supercar they would own, there’s no denying that the McLaren 650S Spider is an incredible machine. Any of us would happily park a 650S Spider in our driveways, but it draws a lot of attention, some of which may be unwanted.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, a German court has ordered a donkey’s owner to pay approximately $7,047 in damages to the owner of a 650S Spider after the animal took a bite out of the car. Local police claim that Vitus, the donkey, probably mistook the bright orange car for a giant carrot. You can’t make this stuff up.

Markus Zahn, the owner of the 650S Spider, parked next to a paddock in Vogelsberg, Germany, which is located in the center of the country. After returning to his vehicle, Zahn was understandably shocked to see a donkey eating the rear end of his car.

Zahn’s insurance company did not want to cover the entire repair bill, as they found the owner to be slightly at fault for his decision to park next to a paddock. While Zahn stated that he could see the funny side to the predicament, he decided to take Vitus’ owner to court for the rest of the damages.

The court ruled in Zahn’s favor and ordered the donkey’s owner to fork over roughly $7,000. Being a supercar owner, clearly, can be pretty tough, especially when a literal ass mistakes bright colors for food. This story proves that bright colors may not be always the best idea for supercars.
