Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro

Only 750 examples of the GT R Pro will be available, each inspired by the successes of the brand’s GT3 and GT4 racing programs.

The Mercedes-AMG GT is quite possibly the hardest hardcore Benz ever built. The Teutonic supercar packs a wallop with its twin-turbo V8, making anywhere from 469 horses in the base GT, to 577 fire-breathing stallions in the GT R. There’s even a four-door coupe so you can bring your friends along for the wild rides around the track and the highway.

For 750 lucky individuals, that ride is about get wilder, as Mercedes-AMG announced pricing for the ultimate GT, the GT R Pro.

For a starting price of $199,650 in the United States, the GT R Pro pulls in all of the knowledge gained from AMG’s GT3 and GT4 racing programs, where the GT R has had more than few successes. And speaking of racing, GT3 driver Maro Engel established a time of 7:04.632 minutes around the Nurburgring’s famed North Loop, a full six seconds faster than the original GT R.

The GT R Pro is packing the same handcrafted twin-turbo V8 as the GT R, delivering the same 577 horses and 516 lb-ft of torque to the rear through its seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. What makes it faster than the GT R is its new ride control setup, allowing the driver to tune the car’s suspension for every situation, and improved front aero and an adjustable carbon fiber sway bar.

The 750 GT R Pros to be sold across the world come with exclusive, color-coordinated accents in Gloss Green (paired with Selenite Grey Magno only) and Matte Dark Grey with all color options available to the supercar. Future owners can also enjoy tons of carbon fiber bits, from the roof to the fixed rear spoiler, as well as carbon ceramic brakes to bring the party to a halt when needed.

The inside of the GT R Pro is that of the upgraded interior for the 2020 AMG GT lineup. The 10.25-inch touchscreen comes with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 12.3-inch dial cluster helps enhance the driving experience, and the AMG Performance steering wheel keeps you connected to both the road and the car.

The GT R Pro is set to arrive in Mercedes dealerships in the United States in late 2019. After that, it’s only 3.5 seconds to 60 mph out the door, and a track away to a top speed of 198 mph.
