LF-LC hybrid coupe concept shines in Detroit
Toyota’s upmarket Lexus brand is entering a new phase led by the introduction at the Detroit show of its LF-LC hybrid coupe concept.
Mark Templin, general manager of the Lexus division pointed out that the first-ever Lexus, the LS400, was launched in Detroit more than 20 years ago in 1989.
He added: “So Detroit is the right place to move the brand into its third phase. The first was the establishment of the brand, the second was expanding the production portfolio and this new phase is all about creating cars that are emotional and inspirational.”
The LF-LC, penned by the brand’s stylists in California, displays the new design direction for Lexus, a much more sculptured look, highlighted by a glass-to-glass roof line.
Templin said: “We will see new Lexus models taking on aspects of this design in the coming years.”
In the meantime, he added that the soon-to-be-launched G3 will be one of nine new and updated Lexus models being introduced this year with more distinctive looks, better fuel economy and more technology.
