Koenigsegg One:1 Sets Production Car Record at Suzuka
We know the Koenigsegg One:1 is ridiculously fast in a straight line, but how does it handle high speed corners? Apparently very well, according to this video which shows the One:1 laying down a 2:17.57 lap time at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan. This resets the lap record previously held by a Nissan GT-R.
Koenigsegg factory driver Robert Serwanski takes the 1,341 horsepower One:1 for a warm-up lap and then gives his passenger the ride of a lifetime. Skip to 2:35 for the start of the hot lap.
The One:1’s lap time is over a second faster than the GT-R’s, but to be fair, the Koenigsegg does have a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. We’re not trying to downplay this achievement, but it would be interesting to see how other cars with similar p/w ratios would stack up against this Swedish supercar.
Maybe it’s time for Christian von Koenigsegg to take the fight to Porsche, McLaren and Ferrari by having a go at the Nurburgring.
