Internet Mourns Death of Supercar Personality “Bleugatti”

By -

The online supercar family lost one of its own this week.

The world of Instagram supercar fans got a lot smaller and a lot sadder this week. That’s because Johannes Marliem, better known as @bleugatti on social media, was killed in an incident this week in Los Angeles.

Details are very thin at the moment, but it should be noted that Marliem was a key witness in a corruption case against Indonesian officials. In his professional life, he was the Executive Director at Biomorf USA, an IT security firm.

Bleugatti was born in Indonesia, but lived in the Twin Cities region in Minnesota. He was a major contributor to the Democratic Party during the Obama presidency, donating more than a quarter of a million dollars. These donations came under scrutiny due to his checkered financial past and resulting issues with the law.

Apparently, his fortunes turned around as, in addition to the donations and the supercars he’s known for, he owned a $2 million mansion on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. His philanthropy also extended to the Como Park Zoo when he donated $66,000 to save endangered orangutans in his native Malaysia.

Godspeed @bleugattii . May you Rest In Peace. One of the biggest motivation and idol in my life. Thank you for the wisdom and knowledge. My condolences to the family. From rags to riches. #MinneapolisRiseUp #Bleugatti #RIP

Bleugatti’s Instagram had more than 100,000 followers before it was deleted last week. He was very active in the supercar scene, often participating in events like the Goldrush Rally in his Lamborghini Aventador, or his blue Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse; the car that gave him his nickname.

Forever in our hearts. đź’™ #bleugatti #gRFam #goldblooded

Fans took to Twitter and Instagram to pay their respects and mourn the loss of one of their favorite supercar personalities. It’s clear from these tributes that he had an effect on many people.

More than that, Bleugatti — Johannes Marliem — was someone’s husband, someone’s friend and someone’s son. We at TeamSpeed send our condolences to his family and friends.
