Hot Wheels Kicks Off Largest Traveling Car Show with Jay Leno
National ‘Legends Tour’ rolls into Southern California on April 28.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, iconic toy-car brand Hot Wheels is hitting the road with the largest Hot Wheels traveling car show, “The Hot Wheels Legends Tour,” in search of a custom car worthy of becoming a Hot Wheels die-cast car.
Launching on April 28 at Hot Wheels Southern California headquarters, The Hot Wheels Legends Tour in being conducted in partnership with famous car collector Jay Leno. The Legends Tour will make 14 stops across the country, from California to New York, visiting Walmart stores that have deep-rooted ties to car culture. Get the full tour schedule here.
Fifty years ago, Hot Wheels launched with a line of legendary 16 cars — The “Sweet 16.” At each stop, members of the Hot Wheels design team, automotive influencers, and Walmart employees will cast their votes for the cars that will become the new “Sweet 16.”
Hot Wheels fans will have the chance to enter their cars to win a trip to the 2018 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas and win a chance to have their car replicated as a Hot Wheels diecast vehicle to be sold at stores around the world. The events will also let attendees get up close and personal with a fleet of exclusive Hot Wheels life-size vehicles that will be traveling around the country.
Does your custom ride have what it takes to be a legend? The top car from each city will join Hot Wheels at SEMA for the final round of the “Sweet 16” selection process. The grand prize winner will then have his or her custom car immortalized as a Hot Wheels die-cast car to be sold around the world. Get more details and register your ride here.
The Hot Wheels Legends Tour kicks off on April 28 at the Hot Wheels Design Center, located at 2031 E. Mariposa Ave. in El Segundo, California. The event is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon. Leno and Chris Down, G.M. and Senior V.P. of Hot Wheels will give opening remarks at 9:30 a.m.
