Iconic Italian carmaker funds initiatives to support communities in Maranello, Fiorano, and Formigine in fight against CV-19.

It’s always great to see everyday people coming together like we are now during this global crisis to combat CV-19 and make the world a safer place for all of us. Social distancing, quarantining, testing…it’s all part of the big plan to get life back to normal as soon as possible. And now in addition to this, it’s great to see a major company like Ferrari stepping up in a major way to help out its community, which will have a ripple effect in helping the entire world through its efforts that recently came to light. Reportedly, Ferrari’s top CEOs and board of directors have agreed to collectively donate their salaries to a fund established to help fight the coronavirus, find a cure, and heal the world.

Thanks to the iconic carmaker’s top brass pledging their full salaries from April to the end of the year, the new fund has already reportedly generated close to $2 million and includes the senior management team also donating 25% of their salaries for the same period.

Ferrari has agreed to donate the funds to support a series of local initiatives in the Italy-based carmaker’s region, with the first activities concentrating on the immediate communities of Maranello (Ferrari’s home base), Fiorano, and Formigine.

“This is another practical expression of Ferrari’s solidarity with and desire to support both its local area and the nation at this difficult and uncertain time,” says Ferrari in a press statement.

Aid to the different towns includes the following initiatives that were coordinated directly with the local authorities:

  • Purchasing of CV-19 test kits and diagnostic equipment for the Policlinico di Modena and the hospitals of Baggiovara and Sassuolo. These serological and molecular tests provide rapid results (in 4/8 hours) and are instrumental in the control and prevention of the contagion for the future
  • Emergency medical service vehicle in support of the local communities. A vehicle is to be donated to the volunteers of the Local Health Authority of Modena and made available to the voluntary association of public assistance of Maranello for emergency response interventions in the local area.
  • Purchasing of computer equipment for schools. Notebooks, tablets and portable modems will allow primary and secondary in the three towns to provide efficient management and participation in online lessons which have become the primary form of education during the crisis. All of the IT equipment will remain with the schools post virus.
  • Purchasing and distribution of food in Maranello. A contribution to the purchase of food vouchers and essential goods for struggling families coping with the emergency situation.
