Ferrari F430: Still an Excellent Supercar to Own

By -

Automotive influencer Doug DeMuro reviews the Ferrari F430 Spider.

The F430 packs a 4.3-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine that makes 490 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque. It can sprint from 0-60 miles per hour in less than four seconds and reach a top-speed of more than 190 mph.

These are respectable figures even by modern supercar standards and this is exactly why Doug DeMuro feels that the F430 could be an interesting option for those looking to buy a used Ferrari. “It’s a lot more reliable than most older Ferrari models … and it’s lot faster than most older Ferrari models as well,” says DeMuro. “But it’s a lot cheaper than most newer Ferrari models, which can cost a fortune.”

For reference, an early model-year F430 coupe can be had for about $100,000. However, the convertible variant reviewed by DeMuro in the above clip costs about $140,000. Yet, even that’s arguably a bargain, considering that pre-owned Ferrari 488 GTB coupes are comfortably selling for over $250,000.

Of course, we must point out that the F430 is not without its flaws, especially when it comes to the interior technology, which is just archaic. Moreover, even though it is more reliable than the older Ferraris, that doesn’t exactly make the F430 bullet-proof. You can still encounter major technical issues, which can be very costly to fix. Yet, at the end of the day, you will get “excellent” performance and the all-elusive Ferrari badge, which, as brash as this may sound, can significantly elevate your social standing.

We definitely recommend watching DeMuro’s video. He has primarily looked at the interior quirks of the F430, such as the glove-box pen-holder and the secret storage between the seats, but you will also get a fair bit of idea about the performance and handling of the vehicle.
