Rare Ferrari was hoisted onto a flatbed truck and hauled away for being parked illegally.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast is one of the Italian automaker’s best performing supercars of all time, but the sleek, bright yellow machine in the video won’t be going anywhere fast anytime soon. According to the Daily Mail, this rare Ferrariwas impounded in London earlier this week for being illegally parked and it seems that no one is sure who owns this gorgeous machine.
The Mysterious 812
The Ferrari812 Superfast seen here was photographed touring across Cannes, Paris and Monaco before landing in the United Kingdom, where the unknown owner parked the bright yellow supercar near Harrod’s in London. Unfortunately, the car was parked illegally and after sitting there for a few days, the Ferrari was ticketed and eventually towed away.
While the 812 was driven across Europe and photographed doing so, along with the pictures of the cars parked illegally and being impounded, there are lots of pictures of this Ferrari, yet it is still unknown who owns the $335,000 supercar.
Impounded in the UK
In the video below, you can watch the interesting method used by British authorities when impounding a car off of the tight city streets. Rather than a tow truck in the United States, which has an arm that extends under the front wheel to grab the front wheels, the British authorities use a rollback, but they don’t drag the cars up onto the deck like American tow truck drivers do. Instead, they use a unique boom system that extends out over the car, with cables that extend down to grab onto the carriers clamped to each of the wheels.
Basically, rather than dragging the car up onto a flatbed, this system carefully lifts the car into the air and sets it on the deck, making it easier and safer for authorities to snatch up illegally parked vehicles on the tight city streets.
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.
"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
