Leyang Bai has created an eye-catching albeit aggressive Ferrari hypercar concept for the Cyberpunk 2077 video game.

When it comes to design, video games have inspired artists around the world. Even automotive designers could not resist the allure of stylized fantasy worlds that video games have to offer. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most popular video games in the market right now, and it has inspired rendering artist- Leyang Bai- to create an eye-catching albeit aggressive Ferrari concept.

Motor1  reached out to the designer, who discussed his inspirations and shared insights about his design process. The designer told Motor1, “The original intention of the project obviously stemmed from the many automotive designs in Cyberpunk 2077.” He further added, “For many of them, the designs aren’t traditionally futuristic, but rather a mix of classic design languages, futuristic cues, and technology.”

Polish video game developer -CD Project Red- also unveiled its dystopian reinterpretation of a 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo back in October 2020. Bai’s hypercar render is called FerRAR.exe 2077 concept and draws inspiration from the Italian automaker’s Le Mans racers of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Even though Bai is a digital modeler for General Motors, the artist based his design broadly on Ferrari 312 P sports racer.

Bai discussed his inspirations with the website, “Many featured design languages are recognizable from the 1960s to 1970s, but with a certain Cyberpunk twist to them. I wanted to use this language to envision what a LeMans race car may look like in the year 2077 in that particular world, so I looked at classic race cars for inspiration rather than modern machines.”

The virtual concept design is reasonably well-restrained and manages to remain uncluttered, which is quite impressive, considering the number of elements that are at play. FerRAR.exe 2077’s front-end features a sloping hood, which is a nod to the 312 P and sits between a pair of LED headlights. The rear-end of the hypercar is dominated by a pair of large angular fins.

We also find what looks like a futuristic quad-tip exhaust at the rear. So, we reckon Leyang designed FerRAR.exe to feature a propulsion system that is powered by either a conventional IC motor or, at the very least, a hybrid drivetrain. The design also flaunts a set of large directional wheels that feature aerodynamic blades. It is a shame that because of Ferrari’s strict licensing laws, we might never get to cruise the streets of Night City in the FerRAR.exe.
