Dubai’s First Female Supercar Club Is a Must-Follow
It wasn’t that long ago that Middle-Eastern women weren’t allowed to drive. Now, they’re bonafied supercar enthusiasts.
As you likely know by now, women haven’t historically been allowed to drive in much of the Middle East until recently. But females in places like Dubai have wasted no time assimilating themselves to the automotive enthusiast lifestyle, that’s for sure. We’ve seen everything, including female Harley-Davidson enthusiasts, popping up over in the desert. And now, the Daily Mail has the scoop on Dubai’s very first all-woman supercar club – the Arabian Gazelles.
The group currently touts over 80 members across 17 nations and pretty much every exotic car you can think of. We spotted Bentleys, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens over on their Instagram page, to name a few. And of course, most of these proud supercar owners are more than happy to pose alongside their rides. Fitting for a group that goes by the motto “Life is too short to drive boring cars.” And notable for a region that long prevented women from doing just that.
Lest you think this is some kind of all-inclusive club, however, think again. In a country known for its supercar clogged roads, there is a bit of a standard here. “To join the club, one has to be a supercar aficionado, and not merely a poser,” member Alex Hirschi told Forbes. “She has to drive and own a supercar such as Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé, McLaren, Aston Martin, Maserati, Bugatti. I also included luxury SUVs Bentayga and the G-Wagon.”
But above all, the group is out to dispel the myth that supercars are strictly a man’s domain. “We are supercar enthusiasts and bonafide drivers who share the same passion and rush behind the wheel as men do,” said club founder Hanan Mazouzi. “We refuse to sit pretty on passenger seats or cheerlead from the pits.”
