Lamborghini Diablo: Can it Road Trip?
YouTuber takes the outrageous 1990s poster car on a 1,300-mile road trip because comfort is overrated.
If you had a world of choices to pick from for a 1,300-mile rally, what would you choose? Something with comfort, probably, and still a bit of character. Like a Lamborghini Diablo.
OK, maybe the Diablo doesn’t offer much comfort, but it has plenty of character. Gobs of character. Demonic, snarling, hell-hound levels of character.

YouTuber Rob Dahm tackled the Wheelwell Express Rally in his eye-searing yellow Diablo along with co-pilot Erica Schrull. And the Lambo even made it to Las Vegas with only one check-engine light. That’s an accomplishment.
Of all the thoughts a Diablo prompts, “road trip” is seldom one of them. For most people, the cabin comes across as cramped or, at the very least, oddly shaped. Like it was designed for a species not unlike humans, but just different enough to make most people uncomfortable.
But Rob claims to find the Diablo comfy, and maybe it is for him. Or maybe he has to live with it so it’s comfortable enough. When you drive a batpoop-crazy 1990s supercar, comfort hardly factors in. Either way, the Diablo gets him there.

If the outrageous shape and “HEY, DO YOU SEE ME?” color don’t nab attention, the V12’s hellacious trumpet will do the job. Whatever else you think of this brief travelogue, the engine’s echo off the canyon walls makes it worthwhile.
While the rally features a number of custom Huracáns — like the Gathering of the Lambos— none come across with the furor of the Diablo. Comfort ain’t everything; sometimes you have to enjoy the monster for its monstrosity.
