Go Behind the Scenes With a Professional Car Photographer

By -

Forget your lame cell phone pictures, this is how it’s really done!

Let’s be honest, we take good car photography for granted. Every day, we see great photos of cars doing donuts. Or sitting in empty warehouses. Or even flanked by walls of fire. Instinctually, our eyes are always drawn to the vehicle.

Easton Chang Smug Mug Photo Video

We don’t really notice all the hard work and effort that goes into getting that one picture. But in a new video profile of photographer Easton Chang, viewers get a glimpse behind the scenes at how these beautiful images are created.

Presented by SmugMug Films, the video shows Chang as he photographs a Porsche 911 GT3 in the desert. Seeing the care and skill that goes into these shots is incredible. Using a variety of camera set-ups, Chang captures the essence of the sports car in a way that most of us would never be able to.

There are also shots of Chang and his brave assistant using a flaming rope and some clever camera tricks to simulate a complete wall of fire around a muscle car. It’s beautiful and striking, but not in a way that distracts you from the vehicle itself.

This video is great for those who are fascinated by a side of the car world that doesn’t get highlighted very often: The photography. Most of us just grab our cell phones and take pictures of beautiful cars in whatever light we’re in. Some of the more artistic types may crouch down to get some interesting angles. But it’s clear that true artists like Easton Chang are on a whole other level.

One thing’s for sure, after seeing this video, you won’t look at car photography the same way again.
