T.50

Built by Gordon Murray Automotive, T.50 is limited to 100 examples, with Canepa set to handle sales and service in North America.

A few decades ago, Gordon Murray delivered to the world one of the most iconic cars ever to the grace the road, the McLaren F1. The three-seat stunner shook up the exotic scene with its style and performance in a way few have touched before or since.

Until now. Recently, Murray’s Gordon Murray Automotive unveiled plans to bring “the ultimate analog driver’s supercar unlike anything ever created” to the world’s stage, the T.50. Another piece of the puzzle was announced August 13, when GMA chose the California-based Canepa Group, founded by Bruce Canepa, as the car’s exclusive sales and service channel for all of North America.

“Cars are meant to be driven, and this may be one of the most exciting road cars ever designed,” said Canepa. “I am both honored and excited to be a part of this amazing project.â€

Canepa Group is already a big deal in the collector car scene, handling every aspect of ownership for collectors of classic street and race cars alike. The organization was also involved in the early phases of Murray’s T.50 project as a consultant, likely resulting in the exclusivity deal in the car’s distribution and after care.

For those interested in the T.50, the supercar is a featherweight at just 2,160 pounds, all of it sent down the highway with the aid of a “bespoke 650 horsepower, Cosworth-designed 3.9-liter V12″ linked to an exclusive six-speed manual. The car, which Murray says will be “the last, and the greatest ‘analog’ supercar ever built,” derives its name from the fact that it’s the automotive legend’s 50th car-related project, filled with five decades’ worth of lessons learned.

While the T.50 will be limited to just 100 units around the world, U.S., Canadian, and Mexican consumers who do wind up owning one of the most exclusive machines ever made will be in good hands with Canepa Group. The organization will handle everything from importing the T.50 from GMA’s facilities in the United Kingdom, to keeping the car running for years to come.
