‘California Festival of Speed’ Promises Porsche Heaven
Porsche fans have plenty to look forward to on April 25 & 26, including track events, a car show, and one seriously cool timeline display.
Porsche fans obviously have far more events at their disposal than most enthusiasts of other brands. So, we tend to feel a bit spoiled at times. But while we certainly can’t attend every Porsche event that takes place each year, the California Festival of Speed (CFOS) should certainly make the cut in Fontana, California on April 25 & 26. Entry is free, and this year, the long-running extravaganza celebrates its 19th straight showing. And for fans of Porsche, it offers up a very comprehensive experience that spans every facet of our beloved hobby.
The heart of CFOS is, of course, its track events. Which should come as no surprise given the fact that it takes place at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. First up, we have the Club Racing event, which pits drivers of all skill levels against each other. If you prefer competing against the clock, there’s also a Time Trial race to participate in. Registration for these two events opens up on March 9 and 7, respectively. But if you just want to take a slow lap around the track, CFOS is also offering that option for a mere $20.
Even if you don’t own a Porsche, there’s a mini driving experience set up in the surrounding parking lot to allow attendees to experience one with an instructor on board. But there are plenty of other enticing reasons to attend CFOS, too. Including the massive swap meet, where you’ll find tons of parts and entire cars for sale.
There’s also a Porsche corral filled with cool cars to look at, along with PCA’s juniors booth providing entertainment for the young folks. But perhaps the coolest thing at this year’s CFOS is what they call the Porsche Timeline. Here, you’ll find every generation of the iconic 911 lined up, showing off the model’s long-running evolution in the flesh.
For Porsche fans, events just don’t get much better or more diverse than the California Festival of Speed. So be sure and clear your calendar. Then, head over here to register for the events you want to participate in. Whether that’s simply showing off your ride or hot lapping it!
