Bugatti Divo

The Divo is built ‘without any concessions with respect to the usual levels of comfort and luxury.’

Back on its home turf, the Bugatti Divo made its European debut in front of select media representatives in the French capital of Paris. Kicking off a week of news at the Paris Motor Show, the Divo showcased a unique departure of norms for Bugatti.

Now that we’ve seen details of the Divo after it’s debut at “Quail; a Motorsports Gathering” we have learned that the Divo is aimed not so much at top speed, but overall speed. Where as the Chiron was built to combine speed with ultimate luxury, Bugatti has declared the Divo would eschew the niceties in favor of 1.6 lateral g forces, increased downforce, and lighter weight.

Power still comes from the iconic W16 motor, turbocharged 4 times over for a total of nearly 1,500 horsepower. Traction is aided by an extra 200 lbs of downforce, however, that additional drag has caused the top speed to be reduced compared to its Chiron stablemate. So in this car, you’ll max out at just 236 miles per hour. However, this car was designed for winding roads, rather than the ones that are arrow straight.

As Bugatti states, they have a “rich coachbuilding heritage of bodies built to its own design and installed on existing chassis.” So even though this car is related in many ways to the Chiron, it has unique suspension, chassis and aerodynamics to make it truly a super sports model.

Since exclusive hypercars have been quite popular lately, it’s no surprise that the entire 40 car run of Divo models have been sold. It will be interesting to see how the cars compare to competition, and even to the Chiron on track, however, we’re not sure how many owners of this $5,750,000 supercar will be roaming the streets with the rest of us lowly normal car owners.
