Brabus 800 Adventure XLP: Off-road Luxury Redefined

Bespoke suspension with beefy portal axles, 800 HP and 737 ft/lbs of torque, all while in the lap of luxury.

Brabus has made its name as an aftermarket tuning company for Mercedes-Benz since the company’s inception in the late 1970s. If AMG never came to exist as a company or brand, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mercedes merged with this company instead of for their high-performance products. Mercedes-Brabus doesn’t have too bad of a ring to it. While they might not be an official part of Mercedes like AMG, they are the largest Mercedes tuner in the world.

Currently, if you visit their site, they offer over 20+ fully customized vehicles to choose from. Options include cars from all across the Mercedes line up, including vehicles like the C63 AMG and the sub-brand units like the smart for two. Brabus likes to call their creations “supercars”. According to their design philosophy, their cars are all a combination of “consummate technology, sophisticated art of engineering, and custom craftsmanship”. Their latest creation might be one of their craziest yet, the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP.

This new product from the company is based on the Mercedes G 63 AMG, but has seen some major revisions over the “standard” model. As with many of their vehicles, the first models during the first production year are available in a special “First Edition” package. The company’s approach with this specific vehicle was to develop a “high-performance pickup with outstanding off-road capability.”

This is achieved in part by the custom-designed suspension featuring portal axles. For those unfamiliar with this technology, it is featured on only the most intense of off-roading vehicles. Portal axles not only offer superior ground clearance that is unmatched by traditional axles, but also offers increased rigidity and robustness of the suspension and chassis. In total, the design allows for 19.2 inches of ground clearance.

Aesthetically, this new Brabus is also innovative. It features the new “WIDESTAR” widebody design, which suits the extreme capabilities and performance of the pickup.

As if this wasn’t enough strengths already, Brabus has continued to go the extra mile. While the original G 63 AMG offers around 577 HP on tap from its 4.0 L twin-turbo V8, the Brabus puts that number to shame. This “800” model is adeptly named as it generates 800 HP and 737 foot pounds of torque from the AMG V8. That’s a whole lot of power for any car, but suits the performance luxury standard this Brabus is built for. 0-to-60 acceleration occurs in only 4.8 seconds when equipped with the 22-inch all-terrain tires. That’s insane how fast this vehicle can be launched at a moment’s notice. Don’t forget that this vehicle weighs nearly 3 tons.

The XLP seen in these photos is offered in the special matte silver paint finish with a stunning burned oak leather interior. All of the interior details can be shaped exactly to the owner’s personal preference as well. However, the aforementioned combination is the signature of the “First Edition” models. So, if you take off-roading very seriously and need the best technology money can buy, this is definitely a premier choice. We aren’t sure if there is another vehicle that can offer this level of luxury and power in such a capable off-road package. Is it crazy? Yes. Do we love it? Even more.
