Limited-edition Book Explores 25 Years of Porsche 993
Porsche 993: 25 Years –1994–2019 documents the 993 and how it became one of the most alluring 911s.
In the early 1990s, Porsche was at a bit of a crossroads. They were facing money woes. Their most recent sports car projects–the Porsche 965 and Porsche 989–ultimately became too costly to complete. But a small team was working on a new project: the 993. And as history would prove, the 993 generation 911 proved to be one of Porsche’s greatest successes.
A new book “Porsche 993: 25 Years 1994–2019,” by Berlin Motor Books beautifully celebrates the 25th anniversary of the 993. The slick coffee table book is a fascinating read about the car’s history, and makes a perfect gift for any Porsche fan–even if that happens to be you yourself. It includes pages upon pages of never-before-seen photos, rare models, interviews, and stunning images of the 993.
The book traces the 993 from its origins to its later domination. In 1994 Bernd Kahnau (993 project leader) and Tony Hatter (designer) were tasked with creating a new model for Porsche 911. With a bold vision, they ended up creating a legend.
Unlike any other ride, the air-cooled 993 generation was exciting, it was a beautiful design, and offered some of the best performance of any Porsche. Let’s be honest: it was a masterpiece of automotive design and performance. When we hear “air-cooled” we think of those powerful, spry sports cars that many would argue was was the best Porsche.
Certainly, the book only serves to further our 993 adoration. Inside, we get unprecedented access to everything 993. Porsche opened up their historical archives, offering photos and specs on extremely rare 993 models, special editions, and more.
Within the pages of “Porsche 993: 25 Years 1994–2019,” there is a wealth of information, history, advice, and insight for collectors and fans alike.
The book features never before published photographs from the 993 development phase. Both Kahnau and Hatter are interviewed in the book, and they speak in great detail about the 993.
Of course, there Porsches. So many Porsches; 360 pages of some of the sleekest, sexiest, and most jaw-dropping 993s.
Keeping with the Porsche spirit, the book is only offered in limited-edition. Berlin Motor Books has published only 1998 copies of “Porsche 993: 25 Years 1994–2019.”
