Audi S7 LA Autoshow Debute

E-tron Sportback, RS Q8, all-new Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 set to wow L.A. with opportunity to test drive new models.

The L.A. Auto Show is already shaping up to be quite an event. With attendees getting the opportunity to gawk at hundreds of cars, there are 65 brand-new vehicles being trotted out for their world debuts. And Audi is one of the companies with some hot new offerings. Audi is revealing the all-new electric e-tron Sportback SUV, as well as a bevy of new S and RS variants, that latter of which will be of most interest to performance enthusiasts.

Los Angeles Auto Show attendees will have the opportunity to test drive the fully electric Audi e-tron SUV on the road through the duration of the show. Audi will host customer ride and drives from Nov. 22 to Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 28. The drive experience will take place on West Pico Boulevard adjacent to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

American lovers of performance station wagons will be stoked to see that Audi will be showing the new RS 6 Avant. Packing a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 that Audi claims will pump out 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque along with the ability to jet the big car from 0-to-60 in a scant 3.6 seconds. Look for its arrival in showrooms in 2020. The handsome second-gen RS 7 Sportback will also be on display with its all-new widebody configuration and twin-turbo V8, that it shares with the RS 6.

Another significant reveal will be the RS Q8, based on the Q8 SUV–which shares its platform with the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga. It is the first RS-spec SUV that Audi has offered to American enthusiasts. This beast of a vehicle is motivated by a twin-turbo V8 that sends its power to a quattro sport differential. The chassis also benefits from all-wheel steering and electromechanical active roll stabilization.

The RS Q8 recently thundered around the gnarly Nürburgring racetrack in a scant 7 minutes and 42.2 seconds, so it should be impressive when put to the test in the urban jungle.

Audi RS 7 debuts at LA Autoshow

Along with the aforementioned RS 6 Avant, another vehicle that has piqued interest is the new e-tron Sportback, which joins the e-tron SUV as the second fully electric vehicle offered to U.S. buyers. Personally, we’ would have preferred to see the e-tron GT sedan, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer for that. Audi will also have the 2020 S6, S7 and S8 performance models on hand.

There is also a new variant of the RS 5 that will be debuted, called the Panther edition, of which only 75 sportbacks and 25 coupes will be made. The cars will feature exclusive Panther Black “crystal effect” paint and 20-inch, 5-spoke alloys from their Europe-only RS 4 Avant. Inside, the interior will also be done up with an optional RS design package that has an Alcantara-clad steering wheel ans center console, complemented by black Nappa leather with red stitching.
