America's 'British Reliability Run' Is a British Car Enthusiast's Dream

Enjoy some fantastic driving roads and beautiful scenery, all while helping a great cause, at this fantastic reliability run.

Here in America, we’ve got more than our fair share of British car enthusiasts. So, it only makes sense that someone would eventually recreate one of the U.K.’s most famous events here – the reliability run. Held in Britain for decades, these gatherings are much like a traditional road rally, yet a bit more gentlemanly and relaxed. And now for the third year, America’s British Reliability Run is recreating that magic right here in the good old U.S. of A.

This fall, ABRR is holding a reliability run in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Connecticut, and the D.C. area. The latter event, starting in our nation’s capital, is next on the docket, taking place October 18-20. Over those three days, participants will cover 650 miles of beautiful back roads through Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. All while surrounded by a whole slew of fellow British car enthusiasts.

That’s part of the mystique that’s made the reliability run such a long running one in the U.K., of course. But the original intention was to test out a car’s, well, reliability. So ABRR isn’t exactly a race, especially since it takes place on public roads, rain or shine. But this also means that the event is devoid of silly road race staples like vaguely worded clues and puzzles, as well as checkpoints and overly eager, testosterone-fueled participants.

Instead, you can enjoy your cup of tea pinkies up while traveling in a small group or by yourself at your own pace. And while you’re doing that, you’ll also get a warm fuzzy feeling since you’re also helping a great cause. Each year, America’s British Reliability Run asks participants to help raise money for charity. This year, that organization is Our Military Kids.

OMK helps the children of deployed and recovering military members cope by providing them with all sorts of fun activities. This includes everything from sports to music, art, or tutoring to help them in school. Since 2017, ABRR has helped raise over $83,000 for this fantastic and worthwhile cause.

A total of 50 teams will be chosen to raise at least $1,000 for OMK at this year’s D.C. run. So, if that sounds like an ideal way to enjoy your passion while helping others, you can register for the next reliability run by heading over here!
