All Five MP4-12C HS Editions come into focus
The McLaren Special Operations MP4-12C HS (High Sport) came into focus on Teamspeed a few months back when it was spotted at The Collection in Miami. At the time all we had a was a short video clip of the HS, but it was enough to get our juices flowing, leaving us to crave for more information on this GT3-ish styled street racer out of Woking. Today we are extremely excited to share these magnificent photos from the talented TOMiRRi photography.
Only five of these special editions were produced to date (all of which have already been spoken for) and here they are in all there glory shot at the incredible science-lab style McLaren factory under a special section dubbed “Ron’s World”. The MP4-12C HS edition features more then just cosmetic enhancements, under the front bonnet the twin-turbo 3.8L V8 has been boosted by 75 horsepower, further increasing performance. Pricing was never officially confirmed but we are told the HS fetched north of $400k per unit.
McLaren’s Special Vehicles Operations have been around since the days of the McLaren F1. The special division is also responsible for the wild Mercedes-McLaren SLR derivatives the like 722 cars (“722” refers to the victory by Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722, indicating a start time of 7:22 a.m., at the Mille Miglia in 1955) and the magnificent Sterling-Moss SLR roadster.
