Heavily Refreshed 2017 Nissan GT-R Goes Live in NYC
What was played down as a “light” facelift turned out to be so much more for the 2017 Nissan GT-R.
The most dramatic change, besides the new and stunning Blaze Metallic color, is the “V-Motion” grille, which is much sharper, dramatic, and according to Nissan, provides for better engine cooling and better aerodynamics. Keeping the engine cool will certainly be important, because the updated 3.8 liter V6 got a 20-horsepower bump, for a total of 565 horsepower.
The interior also received a thorough redesign, with the dashboard and driver’s cockpit being made more comfortable and premium, as well as more driver-centric with steering wheel (and not column) mounted paddle shifters. Another shocking fact about the new GT-R’s interior is the number of dashboard switches, which was brought down from 27 to just 11!
All in all, Nissan claims this is a vehicle with thrilling performance, that can be driven by anyone, anytime. Well, anyone lucky enough.
The 2017 Nissan GT-R will be on sale in the U.S. later this summer.
