2013 BMW M3 Spotted
Our trusty Teamspeed spies caught today the first images of the next generation BMW M3. Reports have been swirling now for a bit that BMW is ditching the current models V-8 in favor for a tri-turbo powered V-6 powerplant, A 450 PS (331 kW / 444 bhp) tri-turbo 3.2 liter six-cylinder. According to a BMW Blog source, the triple-turbo engine being developed is the front-runner for the next M3. Undecided, apparently, is the issue of whether it will be an inline-six, as BMW has traditionally built, or a new V6 configuration that will save space under the bonnet.
It’s interesting to see this test mule in a four door variant as there were are talks about the next M3 forgoing the sedan route for simply a coupe and convertible. These are just test mules but we think it’s pretty safe to assume now there will be a four door M3 for this new generation.
