I have a S4 and love it. Drove a E92 M3 the other day and if you have ~$10k more to spend I'd highly consider. Fantastic car.

I've owned both the B6 S4 and B8 S4 as well as the B7 RS4. Yes, I had them all. That being said if you want a daily driver that is more comfortable, larger, and more practical than the rest; the B8 is for you.

If you'd like a four-door that has a sexual rumble to it (at least mine did with Milltek pipes) and can turn on highways well into triple digit speeds in the rain; the RS4 is your flavor.

Me personally, the B8 S4 had all the speed, more comfort, and an easier daily clutch, and by easier clutch I simply mean smoother to operate i.e. a cup of coffee doesn't stand a chance in an RS4. FYI the RS4 loses ~1 hp per 1k miles on the odometer due to the FSI V8. Global Autosports or whomever loves them all those Northeastern RS4's showing up before 50k miles. After too.
The B8 S4 with a modified ECU and pulley can put down the same AWHP as an RS4. Food for thought.

To each his own, but if you're considering an S5, then look elsewhere. Pick up a used R35 GTR instead and drive the b****s off it. I did that for a year and a half (20 months) between my B7 RS4 and B8 S4.

That's my .02

Interesting information, I'll start having a closer look at a B8 S4.

Didn`t know about the hp loss on the RS4 yet...

how does the 335d(modded? ) compare to its stronger Audi predecessors?

i am assuming you are talking about the rs4 and 335d ?
after a quick 10min google research on 335d, it seems like the car would do the quarter mile from high 12s to low 13s chipped. but please feel free to school me if i am wrong. i have basically zero knowledge about 335d.

as for the audi, a stock rs4 is about the same as a chipped 335d. with a tune and larger diameter header-back exhaust you can get it down to around 12.5.

here are some rs4 quarter mile results for your viewing pleasure

The B8 S4 has lots of mod potential... but its hard to beat the v8 rumble of the RS4. I think you'l likely be happy with either...:-)
