Talking Outboard Help

Good friend of mine popped one of his 2 stroke 225 outboard.

I was telling him maybe he should buy two used 4 stroke outboards...but man...they're quite expensive!

Is he better off rebuilding or spending the extra $$ on another set up?

No idea here, just trying to help. (not that he needs it LOL)

It really depends on the extent of the damage. What popped? How much would the repair bill come out to? I know that new 300hp Verado's are in the neighborhood of 25k (give or take) each. It's really up to him and what he wants to do.

You could get rid of those 225's and get some used 250's OptiMax. Or just replace the 225, after all it might be worth it to just buy another 225 than go through the trouble and expense of fixing it. Hell, he could probably even sell the 225 to a mechanic or shop, or trade it in.

I lied lol it's a 250 x 2. He seized the engine. Said he has over 600 hours of running then hard. His boat is a Baja.

My father used to design Alden Yachts and I grew up on boats but man I'm so out of the loop lmao

Guess never paid attention to outboard prices.

Friend of ours has a Contender with 3 Yamaha 350s? Friggin fast!!!!

A reman powerhead is an option, too.

Depending on the boat it may not take the weight of the 4 strokes, but if it can it is the only way to go in my opinion. We have twin F350 yammis and people are constantly asking if they are running they are so quiet, not to mention they dont smoke like the old 2 storkers

New powerhead the way to go. Two totally different engines. 2 stroke the way to go for performance, but your friend probably already knows that.
