M1 successor could be here by 2016
According to Automobile magazine, the rumored successor to the legendary BMW M1 is on track to celebrate BMW's centenary in 2016. Speculations call for the halo car to be badged as the M8, although nothing is confirmed. Automobile notes that BMW Chairman Norbert Reithofer views this project with mixed feelings and is reluctant to green light the V-8-powered super-car.
They go on to state that Friedrich Nitschke, who runs the M division, won't take no for an answer and will make the necessary adjustments needed to get the car to production.
The article also mentions that chairman Reithofer has personally put the ax down on the Z2 roadster.
