Fabspeed 981 Maxflo Exhaust Development

Fabspeed Motorsport started the month of August with two new exciting updates:

1.) we just moved into the new facility in Fort Washington, PA. This larger facility features the Precision department, shipping & receiving, fabrication, installation, and offices all on one floor.

2.) we received the 981 Boxster S for exhaust, intake, and tuning developments. Name: 981Building.jpg

Size: 99.1 KB

Similar to the 986 and 987/987.2, Fabspeed will manufacture the Maxflo Muffler System and Race Exhaust as the cat-back exhaust solutions. To further improve power and sound, substitute the restrictive OEM headers for the Sport or Race Headers. The Sport Headers will feature 200 cell tri-metallic HJS sport catalytic converters while the Race Headers will be catless. We are still in the designing/testing phase and I will update with power numbers and a video shortly.

The Sport and Race Headers have been designed and will be tested soon, along with the Maxflo Muffler and Race Exhaust. The deluxe T304L stainless steel bolt-on tips that we offer for the 987/987.2 Boxster/Cayman will also fit the 981 standard OEM muffler (polished & black chrome available).

Here is the explanation video of the new Maxflo exhaust components. The sound demo videos will be uploaded shortly once we complete testing.

Porsche 981 Boxster S OEM Exhaust vs. Maxflo Muffler vs. Race Exhaust

Fabspeed performs a sound test and comparison between the OEM exhaust system, Maxflo Muffler, and Race Exhaust. The stock headers are installed in all three setups.

Kyw_R8: if you lug the engine in a tall gear with the Maxflo Muffler installed there will be a slight issue with drone. Rule of thumb is to keep the RPM's north of 2700 when cruising and you will not have this issue. I will post the video shortly of the interior decibels with the stock vs. Maxflo Muffler.

To further improve power on the 981 Boxster S, Fabspeed designed the Sport and Race Headers that will work either the OEM exhaust or the Fabspeed Maxflo Muffler/Race Exhaust. The Sport Headers feature German imported 200 cell tri-metallic HJS sport catalytic converters that are emission compliant with no CEL's. The Race Headers are designed for track use as these are catless and may throw the CEL.

Fabspeed Sport Headers with 200 cell Sportcats
-- Saves 6.5 lbs/2.9 kg from the rear.
-- Improves power +13.7HP/10.9 ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels @ 6600RPM with the Maxflo Muffler installed.
-- Constructed from equal length T304L stainless steel C.N.C. mandrel bent header pipes for improved torque and equalized engine pulsing.
-- High performance F1/NASCAR/IndyCar style 3-into-1 merge collector.
-- Incorporates German imported 200 cell tri-metallic HJS sport catalytic converters.
-- Direct bolt-on replacement for the OEM headers that is safe for emissions with no CEL.
-- Includes stainless steel composite gaskets for a leak proof seal.

Fabspeed catless Race Headers
-- Saves 10.1 lbs/4.6 kg from the rear.
-- Improves power +7HP/5.7 ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels @ 6500RPM with the Race Exhaust installed.
-- Constructed from equal length T304L stainless steel C.N.C. mandrel bent header pipes for improved torque and equalized engine pulsing.
-- High performance F1/NASCAR/IndyCar style 3-into-1 merge collector.
-- Direct bolt-on replacement for the OEM headers.
