Why did you buy Porsche instead of...

Ferrari or Lamborghini. Particularly F430 and gallardo.

I can't speak for everybody (GT owners) but my 997 was about 1/3 the price of an F-car or lambo. And no maintenance worries with porsche.

So it was a $ decision.

As well as monetary reasons, I think being from a smaller city, especially in Arkansas, Porsche is great because it's a little more subtle than cruising around in an f-car, especially than in a Lambo. I think the quality and feel of the car is incredible, but it's a car that my family enjoys more for ourselves and would rather not have the added attention of a red ferrari (though I would clearly love one of those too).

I also just love the 997. It doesn't get much better than a Carrera S Cab on an October afternoon.

There were a few reasons...

1. The subtleness. Doesn't draw nearly as much attention

2. The power. Obviously not for all 911's but the Turbo S is faster than both a F430 and a Gallardo

3. The reliability

4. Backseat/more storage space

For more it was a matter of what I could drive fairly hard and not have to worry about the longevity. The Porsche I can drive multiple times a week and not have to worry about putting km's on. A 430 with 45,000km's is considered pretty k'd out nowadays.

It is more easy to use as daily driver. And also turns into a supercar when you put your foot down. Versatility i think is correct !!.
