A Whole Lot of Porsche: 1984 Gemballa 911 Carrera Coupe
This 1984 Porsche Gemballa 911 Carrera Coupe is going to auction and can be yours for only $80,000 to $110,000. It’s a choice opportunity to own one of eight examples by Gemballa, that were made just before the renown German interior company went belly up.
“Very few authentic Gemballas exist today and this is one of the lowest mileage unmolested cars known to exist,” Auction America claims. “The pre-bankruptcy Gemballas are said to be the hardest and most sought after cars because they were so expensive to build as so much went into each car that it ultimately caused their financial demise.”
Their loss is your gain and this Gem-balla is expected fetch big bucks over the weekend in Burbank, California.
What no cup holder? You can almost smell the chocolate leather interior of this seriously rare bird. Actor-director Robert Redford owned one of these about the time he starred in The Natural. The Oscar-winner totaled his Gemballa, so don’t bother trying to buyhis.
The late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, owned a 1984 Gemballa as well. Jackson’s version probably had a gold plated, baby seat for Bubbles the chimp and was most likely repossessed – but’s that’s just hearsay.

This particular specimen was owned by a Dr. Edwin Edillion of Los Angeles ,who obviously enjoyed making house calls in style. The dashing doc saved all the vehicle’s paperwork, which includes the original sales brochure from Gemballa, along with import documentation and a copy of the original title.
The pampered Porsche also has a new clutch, a serious whale fin and 24-karat gold gilded wheels. Suh-weet!  Now you can finally relieve the 80’s in proper style.
