The New Jaguar F-Type Will Go AWD

By -

Jaguar lately has been all the rage for auto enthusiasts and journalists alike, why, because of the F-Type. The new coupe was a departure from Jag’s of recent years. It was small, luxurious, and was about as raucous as a Marilyn Manson family picnic.

We all swooned over the new sports car, it brought us back to a time in automotive history where Jaguar was winning LeMans, and was winning our hearts with the E-Type. The F-Type is a foot firmly both in the past and the future, and Jaguar is definitely trying to bank on all of the hype and critical praise for the car.

What they are also doing is not only make it a spring, summer, and fall car. One that can only do duty when the weather is absolutely beautiful, but giving it the underpinnings to be able to drive the glorious looking cat all year round and in those northern climates where weather can be a bit tricky. How are they doing this, by giving it AWD.

The new F-Type will not only get a proper transmission in the next year, but it will also get AWD that will allow the coupe to have all-season long capability. No longer will owners have to tuck them away for the winter, with the AWD system in place, the new F-Type will become a proper all year sportscar, even though most will still never see snow.

The Coupe will get a modified version of Jag’s AWD system that is already in the XJ and XF, but shortened to the F-Type’s proportions. Hopefully this means that we will see some intrepid, non-worrier F-Type owner hooning the hell out of it in the snow, or maybe rallying it! A guy can dream right?
