The Art Of Horacio Pagani

The Art Of Horacio Pagani

Possibly the world's finest car maker.

As noted from Wikipedia, Horacio Pagani comes from a line of Argentinian bakers. From a young age he enjoyed designing cars out of balsa wood, the designs of which can now be seen in the Pagani showroom. In 1983 he moved to Italy in order to pursue his dream of building a supercar. At the age of 20, Pagani had designed and built his first f3 racer.

Pagani's first experience with the automobile industry was with Lamborghini who he worked for as a composite specialist in the 80's.[2] In 1991, he broke away from the company and founded his own consultancy called Modena Design who continue to make carbon fibre composites for Formula One cars and clients like Daimler, Ferrari and Aprilia.

Pagani Automobili Modena was founded by Pagani in 1992. The first car he produced was the Zonda which took seven years to complete and here we are today in paying tribute to the bespoke supercar maker in a tribute thread aptly titled "The art of Horacio Pagani".

Below you will see I came across a bunch of Zonda pictures -- from the Monza all the way through Clubsport Roadster -- and rather than just file them away somewhere, thought I would share them, in no particular order:

the blue looks so sick...i'd love me any of these zonda's one day :D

LABrit 01-02-2009 12:58 AM

The Zonda is second only to the 300SL Gullwing on my top few dream cars - it's amazing.

alkyoneus 01-02-2009 01:27 AM

Can someone explain how the soft op in the Zonda f roadster works? It looks like only the back window is cloth.

ss7 01-02-2009 01:35 AM

Awesome, love the pics of yellow one. Thanks for posting!

Igor 01-02-2009 01:37 AM

that black roadster with red top looks pretty damn good!

YouTube - TOP GEAR- wally 118(boat) and Zonda

Check at 4m25s, it looks like cloth part with window retracts and roof clips on top.

alkyoneus 01-02-2009 02:27 AM

thx i forgot they showed it in that vid

ZAMIRZ 01-02-2009 02:36 AM

The Zonda is the one car that if/when I acquire one, I will know that I have truly made it in life :)

Thanks for the photos and keep 'em coming if you have any more.

Isn't that a Gemballa Mirage GT standing in front pf the Zonda? It appear to have a German plate and a red one at that. Red plates are dealer plates iirc.

MeanMachine 01-02-2009 03:02 AM

The Zonda in that red is out of this world, very classy, vintage, subtle I am lost with words its perfect.

Alzilla 01-02-2009 09:43 AM

Incredible pics! Thanks for sharing them with us. The Zonda is in my 2nd only to the Macca F1 on my dream car list. Rep for you!

Chris from Cali 01-02-2009 10:34 AM

Gorgeous pics - The Zonda looks great no matter what color, what version... I'm with Mohammed on that burgundy one. What a gorgeous color on that car - I would have never thought of that one. And the blue looks NICE.

It makes me cringe just thinking about how expensive it will probably be to fulfill that dream.

It is one of my goals too though.

Thanks for sharing those pics, I don't you I can ever see too many photos of a Zonda.

JonA85 01-02-2009 01:16 PM

Great pictures, not a fan of the Zonda with the black wheels.

928s 01-02-2009 02:00 PM

Tommy6030 01-02-2009 02:04 PM

Does anyone know the story on the dark red Zonda with the NY dealer plates? Is that Wycleff's car?

No, the ex-Wyclef Jean car is actually a bright red like Porsche guards red and it's a coupe.

86blackwidow 01-02-2009 06:25 PM

Great collection of pics.

I can't find the issue of EVO mag that I'm looking for but this car belongs to a wealthy retired American that kept his car in the Pagani factory and every once in a while he'd fly down to Modena in his private jet and spend a weekend driving his S roadster ..... the magazine did not give out his name I believe they called him Mr S. and described him as a wealthy, retired American in his 60's........ big props to him he's living the life in my book

They are masters of carbon fiber. They make Ferrari's CF work look like schoolboy stuff. Go look in a 430 or Enzo and compare it to those pics of the Zonda... Amazing.

Am I the only one to have never seen a used Zonda for sale? Come to think of it, it's one the very few recent supercars I haven't seen in person.

FWIW, reliable sources say the red Roadster on NY plates belongs to collector Benny Caiola.

edit - Here's a weird zonda! Normal Zonda ... but awful rims!
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/6...cars078kg8.jpg
And it's in RSA! Mike S, it is your duty to find the owner and tell him the world hates those rims! :D

This car is definitely one of the most insane pieces of work to come from any automobile factory in a long time. The attention to details is just awesome and it's things like that which catch my eye. The pic with the koenigsegg(sp?) is awesome and they are the two most radical cars imo...

Alzilla 01-03-2009 04:37 PM

I love the new centerlock wheels! That orange one is the kind of stuff that dreams are made of. Thank you everyone for posting pics!

Alzilla 01-04-2009 03:05 AM

Found a great link to some incredible Zonda pics:

Pagani Rally

Apparently I can't link pics anymore, so make sure to check out this link. Rep to whoever can get the pics to show up.
