2012 Major League Baseball

In the absence of Dana, I decided to create this thread, given that the season starts next week.

I'm looking forward to a fun year!

SATURN_rob 03-23-2012 10:44 PM

I think some of these players will have break-out years; I am definitely going to try and get them on my fantasy team(s):

Matt Kemp: Proven he has been productive and effective for the Dodgers, and he only seems to be getting better.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3208/5...99421723_z.jpg

Ryan Braun: Although Braun has a strange stance, it does not seem to defeat him from improving offensively.

http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4092/4...48251594_z.jpg

Ian Kennedy: This guy seems young, and has lots of potential. After establishing a 20 win record, he will be the ultimate gem for Arizona.

http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/multimedi...an-kennedy.jpg

Ervin Santana: Despite his MLB fluctuations throughout his career, Santana has some of the best stuff (amazing slider), and will likely increase his Ks this year.

http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/multimedi...in-santana.jpg

Dustin Ackley: Being in Seattle, Ackley has prooven to be one of the most effective rookies for the Mariners in the past ~10 years. He is also a very quick and agile second baseman.

http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1309913465

Troy Tulowitzki: I am speechless about Tulowitzki. His defensive play is stunnning, and he is one of the best all-around talented players in the game. He is young, and has lots of prime years ahead of him to dominate the game. Tulowitzki seems to get better each season.

Thank you for starting it man, where is the Barrister anyway?

Brobbins016 03-23-2012 11:55 PM

Barrister seems to have left us for another. No Issue. You should see the Brewers tix my co worker got! I have a 27 game buy for the season. Go BrewGrew!

mafishman1 03-23-2012 11:55 PM

Thanks for starting this Rob. Really enjoyed the MLB thread last season. I know Dana is getting ready for what is sure to be an exciting season for his Angels. Happy baseball is coming back soon!!

SATURN_rob 03-28-2012 11:41 AM

Good game for the M's! I'm very excited for Ackley- already off to a hot start.

yzracer931 03-28-2012 11:44 AM

Sencond year in a row that I will not make opening day in STL . However, working in Ft Lauderdale I will be attending the Miami Marlins game vs STL. They only play one game and then off to Milwaukee.

For sure. Now with a stacked lineup on the Angels, they will be a fierce competitor with Texas.

McRae 03-28-2012 12:12 PM

GO EXPOS GO...oh wait im doing it wrong...lol

JonA85 03-28-2012 12:57 PM

Go Sox. Go to be a very interesting year this year.

mafishman1 03-28-2012 08:57 PM

Jon, do you like Bobby V?

mafishman1 04-01-2012 08:52 PM

Well, who is everyone's pick to win the World Series this year? I really don't know. Quite a few good teams on paper.

81911 04-01-2012 09:49 PM

I'm very anxious. Got tickets for opening day and for the future stars vs all stars game too!

parealtor 04-01-2012 10:22 PM

Ready for another phillies season. Going to be interesting.

I will have to go with the Rays. They still seem young, and they have a stacked pitching rotation and offense. Seems too early to make this decision, but we'll have to see how this season plays out.

parealtor 04-02-2012 03:08 PM

rays suck... they got lucky. Marlins or nationals have a better chance then the rays. Reason why media loves the rays is theyre a young team with a low payroll.

JonA85 04-05-2012 12:58 PM

Sox play their first game of the season @1 against the Tigers today.

Bonita 04-05-2012 01:33 PM

I miss Dana...

SATURN_rob 04-07-2012 01:35 AM

Wow. What a great Opening day. M's pulled off a great win, but I am truly amazed with the Rays-Yanks game. Pena was something else today.

SATURN_rob 04-07-2012 09:21 PM

What's going on with all of these multi-homers? Could not believe the Red Sox-Detroit game.

JonA85 04-07-2012 09:33 PM

Wow Sox off to a real rough start. Going to be a long season I think.

JonA85 04-08-2012 06:31 PM

Sox suck. That is all.

SATURN_rob 04-08-2012 07:05 PM

^^ I still have hope in the Sox, but I also think Detroit will be very good this year. Can't go wrong with their lineup and an excellent pitching rotation.

mafishman1 04-08-2012 08:04 PM

First time since 1966 that both the Sox and Yanks start 0-3. I know it's very very early, but it is looking like a very interesting baseball season already.

mafishman1 04-08-2012 08:05 PM

Oh and I also saw a cool statistic on Jamie Moyer the other day. Jamie Moyer has faced 8.9% of all batters.....EVER. That's amazing.

SATURN_rob 04-10-2012 04:02 PM

Alright I've decided Detroit is my new favorite team.

SATURN_rob 04-12-2012 12:24 AM

Amazing the M's pulled off the W. Some good games tonight.

JonA85 04-12-2012 11:06 AM

Baseball takes a back seat til hockey's done.

parealtor 04-12-2012 02:03 PM

Phils put together a nice win last night.. got to see it in person. Now we have seen they are capable of playing small ball they are going to need to do it more often until Howard and Utley come back.

SATURN_rob 04-13-2012 06:31 PM

Wow what a game the Cubs are playing. I'm liking their starter, Samardzija.

SATURN_rob 04-14-2012 01:37 AM

What a night for McCann, finally came out of his slow start

SATURN_rob 04-16-2012 01:00 AM

What?! Dodger's get a pretty wild triple play

Must C | Must C Classic: Dodgers turn a rare triple play - Video | MLB.com: Multimedia

SATURN_rob 04-18-2012 12:34 AM

Texas caught on to Lester really quick with that 18-3 score!

JonA85 04-20-2012 02:59 PM

Happy 100th birthday Fenway Park!

SATURN_rob 04-21-2012 12:28 AM

^^ This. Sorry for the loss though.

JonA85 04-21-2012 08:21 AM

I'm use to it

parealtor 04-21-2012 11:05 AM

Nationals in 1st in the NL East. but watch out for them braves. cant imagine how bad the Phillies would be if they werent playing small ball. What everyone accused them of not being able to do.

JonA85 04-21-2012 07:17 PM

Sox were up 7-0. Now they are losing 9-8. Pathetic........

mafishman1 04-21-2012 07:20 PM

^^Yes the Red Sox really suck.

And Phil Humber for the White Sox threw a perfect game today against the Mariners. 21st Perfecto in MLB history. Amazing.

TTM0TION 04-21-2012 08:13 PM

What a day for baseball. They cut the game to watch the end of the perfect which was awesome to come back right after SWISHER HITS A GRAND SLAM. Then the Yankees go on to further punish the gay sox in there 100 anniversary weekend.

It was also supposed to be rainy today and the weather is gorgeous couldn't have a much better day!
