Valmet Automotive also builds the Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman. It said it will build a new body welding line to accommodate production of the Fisker Karma. Production is set to kick off in the fourth quarter of 2009. "The first cars will be delivered to North America and the deliveries to Europe are planned to start in 2010," said the two companies in a statement. Annual production is pegged at 15,000 vehicles.
"We are pleased with the current progress in this working relationship and know that we have the team that will help us meet our production goal," said Fisker Automotive Chief Operating Officer Bernhard Koehler. The Karma sprints from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds, according to Fisker, and has a top speed of 125 mph.
