Spied: Great New 991 GT3 shots
Trio of new GT3 test-mules spotted

Some new shots of the upcoming GT3 have been posted online, along with a brief video clip to get us even more excited for the harder-core version of the new 991 from Porsche. The new images help us to see even more clearly now the typical GT3-style front bumper, staple centered twin exhaust pipes, and a new style rear wing which appears to be the same as the aero-kit rear spoiler option found in the standard 991 order-book. As Teamspeed noted before this may not be official rear wing set-up for the production version.

The new massive multi-spoke center-lock wheels come into play a little clearer in these images and the strip of camo tape on the top of the rear bumper we are convinced is hiding a symmetrical row of air-vents.

Power is expected to be around 450 horsepower and as mentioned earlier in the week, August Achleitner, the 911 project chief, confirmed that Porsche's motorsport division is currently testing both manual and PDK versions of the new GT3. I believe these test mules are PDK fitted cars.

Very cool shots and thanks for posting!

Is it just me or is car #4 lacking steering wheel mounted shifters (manual mule?)?

Nan 09-22-2012 06:21 PM

This is really growing on me; can't wait to see it in the flesh.

DJ 09-22-2012 06:54 PM

Same principal of the wheel well gurney that we stole from the Cup cars....

make sure that the front tires stay inside the fender.... to create better aero and brake flow ..

wtdoom 09-22-2012 07:17 PM

991 does nothing for me still :(

La Artist 09-22-2012 08:11 PM

Love it..just love it!

RFFG 09-22-2012 08:35 PM

PaulGeudon 09-23-2012 05:24 AM

But where is the sound?

phunkshon 09-23-2012 06:08 AM

The photographer said they all had paddles.

Ah ok. Had my hopes high for a sec...

Well actually I kind of torn about it, would love to see a manual in the GT3, but as an option, it will probably end up being half assed effort, while all the development is concentrated around the PDK.

woppum 09-23-2012 02:50 PM

Can't say I'm that excited yet.
Surly rhey will do a manual too?

JCay 09-23-2012 03:12 PM

Bad. Ass.

koizu 09-23-2012 08:55 PM

:wow2:

Carrera 09-23-2012 09:08 PM

Also notice guys the car that supposedly doesn't have paddles also doesn't have ANY of the GT3 body work besides the centrally mounted exhausts, otherwise it's a typical 991. Perhaps it's a "Carrera R"?

HarveyMushman 09-23-2012 09:30 PM

It looks far too much like an aftermarket bodykit for my tastes.

 Just kidding, it's just a standard 991 for testing of the GT3 Engine.

GT3RS 09-24-2012 08:25 AM

It does look very agressive at the front, not 100% sure but these thing have a habit of growing on you.

Marc 09-24-2012 10:51 AM

^ exactly front is very agressive. 991 still hasn't grown on me, I parked next to a white cab w black wheels last week and my 997 still looks better to me.. I have to see the GT3 in person before I can decide.

Artzt 09-24-2012 05:38 PM

Not sure if I like the rectangular vent in the center. I hope they're still covering some up. The mules posted previously showed a different front bumper look, but who knows.

I still am not sold that this is the final rear wing for the GT3, I think something a little different is coming our way for the production version.

That looks sick!

Itzkirb 09-25-2012 10:19 AM

Can't wait to see it in person.

RonnieRenaldi 09-25-2012 11:02 AM

Looks good except the wing.

SpinDrift 09-25-2012 11:30 AM

Andreas, if you or any of your team read this thread, please take note that we really don't like that rear wing! I certainly hope that awful aero kit wing isn't what Porsche give us on the GT3.

I'm a Porsche salesman lol

My voice is not heard my friend trust me. They dont even give us any type of incentives to drive the cars. We have to buy our own. Ive been more vocal about that lol

I don't hate the aero kit wing personally but I do like the last one more. We will have to see the final product!

goldencrust 09-25-2012 03:35 PM

also andreas give us the quality in the new gt3/rs that porsche bangs on about!! not like my nightmare 4.0 rs, finishing standards of a car that a guy built in his garage, the company makes such an issue about quality control on its tv docs at the factory !! lets get this one right, also here the new boxter is having its issues to? maybe to much going on ??? devils in the detail as they say or porsche will start to loose there long term loyal customers!

The front looks great. But the wing is terrible. I hope they do something about it. Looks like a complete mismatch.

I'm shure this aerokit wing is not the final product. Look At the earlier spyshots ...... Much different and its higher, similar to the the 997 mk2 wing.

huangester 09-25-2012 10:54 PM

One thing for certain they will not use the same wing as they offer for regular 991.... so, lets just wait to see when the time comes closer to publishing...
