I dunno if you are joking, and thats the obvious answer, but will using mass amounts of water cause it to get anyway it shouldn't?

It's fine. Just try not to spray directly onto electric parts (ie the generator/fuse box etc). And I usually let the engine run a few minutes after, to dry it all out.

But if the engine is mounted upside down in your part of the world, perhaps you should get a lift to gain access . . .

AVOID IGNITION COILS!!!! In the B6/B7 world people have ruined many ignition coils. People wash the engine bay and spray the coils and ruin them.

I simply spray the engine down with P21 Total Auto Wash, agitate with a brush, and wipe with microfiber.

I had my 360 detailed just before I had my motorcycle accident.

The electronic clutch sensor got wet and corroded.

When I drove the car, the clutch was destroyed as a result.

There are some engine parts that don't like water.

What kind of car

Steps I always use with no problems (obviously Dana had some I never had)

Put a plastic bag over battery, dizzy, fuse box ect just to be careful.

water down the engine, avoid electrical areas obviously. spray on some simple green, use a brush to aditate dirty areas, hose off. start engine, ejoy a clean engine bay :)

This is just advice and if you destroy your engine, Im not responsible

BUT I have done the above many times with no problems
