Road-going version of Lamborghini's Super Trofeo set for Frankfurt http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6196/...c4591b31_z.jpg Racing towards Frankfurt Lamborghini is set to steal the Frankfurt Motor Show with its latest super sports car. Text by Karl Peskett Teased a few weeks ago, with the tag-line "Racing towards Frankfurt", the new car is thought to be the ultimate expression of the outgoing Gallardo with more power, less weight, and a higher top speed. Teamspeed spoke to Lamborghini regarding reports that it would be a road-going version of its Super Trofeo race car. "You're very close," said our source, however he wouldn't elaborate much further. Auto Express reports that the new car will have a 0-62mph time of just three seconds and a possible 210mph top speed. If that's true, it will be a fitting end to the Gallardo series, a car that has effectively turned Lamborghini around financially. All will be revealed (and confirmed) in a few weeks time. |
Super Trofeo ft Sesto Elemento Gallardo? |
Probably i'll be attending at the Frankfurt motor show and i can't wait to see it. But my opinion about this car... still another useless Lamborghini, come on! There's the BlancPain Edition which is a street legal SuperTrofeo, Lamborghini stop making so many editions of the Gallardo! |
^^We will need someone to exclusively cover the show for teamspeed with images/photos if you are interested as I don;t think I can make it this year so PM me if interested buddy!!! |
http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x..._455677_25.jpg Gallardo goes out with a bang Lamborghini set to unleash ultimate version of V10 baby at the Frankfurt Motor Show The raging bull will charge into the Frankfurt Motor Show next month with the most hardcore Gallardo ever produced. In a teasing invite to the expo, Lamborghini revealed it would unleash a “super sports car”. And while the firm wouldn’t officially say much more, Auto Express has learned it will show off a roadgoing version of the Super Trofeo from its one-make race series. Only 30 examples of the track special, based on the LP560-4, have been made. Each features a 562bhp 5.2-litre V10, along with a six-speed e-gear paddleshift transmission and race-spec suspension. Thanks to a stripped-out interior and significant use of composite materials, it tips the scales at a mere 1,300kg – that’s 110kg lighter than the standard car and 40kg down on the special-edition, featherweight Gallardo Superleggara. It also gets a whole host of aerodynamic tweaks, with a big wing at the rear and a ground-hugging front splitter. The Frankfurt show star will follow the same formula, with an even lower kerbweight than any roadgoing Gallardo before it, plus more aggressive looks and, potentially, additional power from its V10 engine. A 0-62mph time of three seconds and a 210mph top speed are likely. Expect the show car to be coloured bright red, too, and available in very limited numbers, with a price approaching £200,000. As the fastest, most extreme Gallardo of all, the model will be a fitting way to mark the end of the car’s production. The entry-level Lamborghini will be replaced next year by an all-new version, which is rumoured to carry a fresh name: Cabrera. In addition, Lamborghini is planning a roadster version of the Aventador flagship. |
This would be considered terrible news to those who have just purchased a LP570-4 SL Gallardo. |

LP590-4 trademark was already registred. |
Yup, very close. Some sort of few Sesto and ST bits in good old G and here we go again. I remember there were rumors I have heard year ago about something like LP590-x coming, everyone thought that it is that SL version supposed to be the last. But seems that it was already planned from the very beginning - SL, Performante and only then the very last and the very limited LP590-4. |
It makes sense since Audi is upgrading the V10 on the R8GT to 570ps. |
