Big congrats to UGR!

Mike@AwdMotorsports 03-29-2010 01:03 AM

They deserve every bit of recognition for this accomplishment!!! the Supra is dethroned as i predicted by an AWD car.. Traction will own this type of racing as the HP climbs higher and higher and MPH as well..

calypso 03-29-2010 01:09 AM

250 in a mile, damn, that thing must want to spin the whole way.
Congrats to UR.

Ced 03-29-2010 01:29 AM

What kind of CLUTCH were they running on their Lambos? Their site never mentions anything about transmission mods on their cars?
WOW!! Amazing stuff though

Mike@AwdMotorsports 03-29-2010 01:35 AM

That car was a E-gear believe it or not..

B4rad 03-29-2010 02:13 AM

Once again UGR has raised the bar. I think UGR uses tilton clutches on their TT gallardos.

daedalus 03-29-2010 10:07 AM

unbelievable!

Anyone know what kind of tires they are running to do these speeds? The Bugatti folk made all sorts of fuss about their 20k/tire technology that allowed a top speed of what 7mph more? What are these guys running?

I think the underground cars were running Toyo's R888.

Underground Racing 03-30-2010 09:55 AM

Thanks for all the compliments. I'm very proud of the entire Underground Racing team for what we accomplished!! Jonah and Richard did outstanding jobs driving these monsters!! These Underground Racing Lamborghini Gallardo's are 100% street cars with nothing removed! It was a lot of work and long hours to get these cars prepared along with our normal work load at the Underground Racing shops.

We were experimenting with different turbos and set ups the first couple of days at the mile on both Gallardos. Saturday evening we started getting them prepared for Sunday and decided to get them ready for attack mode :spar: as the Supra's and Ford GT's were getting faster by the run. We never got any completely clean runs but were still able to put down 240, 249 and 250 mph passes. We learned a lot, and we will be much more prepared at the next Mile event. I can't wait to see what these Gallardos do on a concrete runway!

Video coming soon :HappyDance:

What kind of clutches or aftermarket transmission do you guys run on these cars? stock?
your site doesnt say anything regarding transmission mods, which leads you to believe that they are stock. Which is impossible with 1000hp

slavik 03-30-2010 11:02 AM

congrats to UR on a great achievement...looking forward to seeing them in April

Not speaking for the UGR , but your statement is false pertaining to being impossible @ the 1000hp mark. I run my car @ its lowest setting 850rwhp (1000hp) and its on stock clutch, stock trans, ZERO issues... There are guys with upwards of 25K miles running this same setup. Ive also run a few times @ approx 1250hp.

GregV 03-30-2010 12:06 PM

Veyron has been clocked between 204 and 210 in the mile.. The 210 figure Ive only heard of, and not seen.

The stock tranny is good up to the 1250 WHP range. After that it will start hurting gears. The stock clutch is good to about the same level also.

In the Gallardos that make between 1300-1700 whp we use custom billet transmissions and Tilton clutches, they can only be bought though Underground Racing. They are full synchronized transmissions also.

The TT Gallardo's were hitting between 210-220 in the 1/2 mile.

Yeah, thats crazy fast.

Luis 03-30-2010 10:39 PM

A Veyron could not hang with a lot of cars that have run the mile in the last couple of years. It's a fast production car that can run up to 253mph (it would take it 3 miles to do so) and can run above 200mph and still be very stable (where a lot of the cars that are running over 200 in the mile are not) but it's definately not the fastest thing out there.

Head first again Ced.

I'm amazed at not only the mph but by the fact that these guys are driving their own cars with little or no experience at these speeds. I don't think I could hold the pedal down that long.

Daedalus : Exactly what I thought. Bugatti Tires = Madoff

Joez : Is it confirmed ?
