First Production 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible Fetches $1 Million
Barret-Jackson's Palm beach auction saw the hammer drop yesterday at the $1 Million mark for the rights to purchase the first 2014 production Corvette Stingray Convertible.
No stranger to being the winning bidder for these types of auctions, NASCAR team owner and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group, Rick Hendrick won the bidding, just as he did a few months prior winning the rights to buy the first production C7 Stingray Coupe.
Hendrick has now laid out nearly $2.1 million to charity for his new C7 corvette book-ends. All proceeds from the sale of the new stingray convertible will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of 40 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States with the goal to prevent, detect and eliminate all forms of cancer.
After the hammer fell, Hendrick joked, "I think I got 30 year financing, so I hope I live long enough to pay for it!"

Same guy bought the first coupe. So now he has $2M worth of 2014 Corvettes. The first million write off is for 2012 tax year this one is for 2013. Hey if I had that kind of money I would do it too. For the Charity it is great and he gets two cool cars. WIN-WIN. Good for him.
