Mac Mini

Going to pick one up this week.... Mostly will be used to stream music throughout the house, house our family pictures as well as some light excel and Internet surfing + the cloud...

My question is, do I need the i7 or is the i5 more than sufficient? Is 4meg of ram enough or do I need 8?

Thanks for the input

Does that also mean no need to upgrade from the i5 to the 7?

Nah, for truly light around the house use I say save the bills. If you were going to photo/video edit I'd say go bigger, but I'm going to guess that the system as is will be adequate.

For your needs the base config i5 is fine. I would run 4GB of ram. 2 is a bit pokey with Lion, and 8 is somewhat overkill unless you're running stuff that eats a lot of it (Photoshop, etc).

Mine's running with 4 GB very smoothly. No need to overdo it.

Thanks guys... Guess last question, which of the i5's? One seems to have a hopped up media card and a few other bells... Worth the $200 more(guess $100 since it does come with more ram)...
